What is noticebank?

noticebank is an Internet application for creating a website notice board to use for a user discussion forum on your website.

How does it work

You login to noticebank via Icon’s website and set up your discussion forum where you can add topics and create user registration forms.

noticebank allows users to post notices on a topic for other website users to view and discuss. Registered users can view all notices and follow a threaded discussion for all responses to a particular notice.

Why do you need noticebank?

If your users have common issues that they would like to discuss. a forum is an excellent way to help them exchange views. Furthermore it encourages them to make regular visits to your website. You can keep in touch with user’s views and concerns which may help you better provide for their needs. You can also collect valuable contact details which can be used for other communications.

User registration

User registration is required to use the forum. You can import a user list, enter new registrations or create a registration form for users to enter their details directly. On the first occasion that a user submits a notice they are prompted to register with their details. Thereafter the system recognises who they are by storing a cookie on their computer.

Alerts

You can set up alerts which automatically send e-mails when notices are submitted. noticebank can be set to notify you, the person who created the notice thread, or all users who have replied to that thread.

Password access

You choose if you want registered users to enter a password to access the discussion forum. noticebank will issue a password automatically and send it by e-mail to the user.

Monitoring

You can appoint a moderator who is able to review and delete unwanted notices and add their own messages. This can be useful for a technical support forum, for example, and users have the benefit of being able to search past history for answers to common problem.

Topics

You decide whether new topics can be entered by any user or only by the administrator.

Notices

The first time a user posts a notice on a topic it creates a notice thread which will include all replies to the notice. This enables related notices to be grouped together so that any user can follow a complete discussion subject.
